Let’s get this straight; there is a wide array of cannabis strains, and new strains frequently hit the market. So, how do you pick the best cannabis strain for yourself in such an ever-growing space? Or, how do you differentiate one strain from the next, given that they all look more or less the same? Here’s a quick cannabis strain guide to help you get started!
In a nutshell, cannabis strains are varieties of the “cannabis” plant. Each strain has specific characteristics, terpenes, cannabinoids, and other compounds that make up its unique appearance, flavour, aroma, and, most importantly, a set of effects on the users.
Similarly, different cannabis strains have different genetic makeups, which are usually bred or cross-pollinated by botanists or, in some cases, genetically evolved.
Another important thing to note is that a weed strain doesn’t necessarily have to fall under a single category. Due to their diverse genetic background, it’s very difficult to find a full- cannabis indica or Sativa strain. Strains are mostly hybrids with a dominance of either Sativa or indica composition. This is why you’ll come across strains that are either tagged as ‘indica-dominant’ or ‘Sativa-dominant.’
